[GiDlist] GiD interface in windows XP

Hi.

I have a problem with GiD for Windows XP. Suddenly it has changed
its interface. The menus appear on the right, and are different. There
are not pull-down menus, and some of the options have changed. For
example, I don’t know how to select a problemtype… I’ve tried to
uninstall GiD and install different versions, but it doesn’ work. You
can see the new GiD window in the attachment.

Dear Fernando,

You can try to take out and put the different bars/menus again using the
Configure Toolbars window. To acces it just click on the right mouse button
over some icon of some bar.

Each user has its own copy of some GiD settings (like preferences variables, or window sizes).
This information is saved in a file named ‘gid.ini’ that is stored in a different place depending on the platform
e.g.
Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\current user\Application Data\GiD\gid.ini
Windows Vista: C:\Users\current user\AppData\Roaming\GiD\gid.ini
Linux: \home\current user\GiD\gid.ini

This gid.ini is shared between all installed GiD’s and reinstalling GiD don’t modify this file.

You can delete it, and then it will be automatically rebuild with default values

In any case, your image show that the pull-down menus are hidden, and the right buttons visible, you can change this from
Utilities-Tools-Toolbars… (or click the rigth mouse on some toolbar and select ‘configure toolbars…’)
Select the toolbar and its state/location

There is an option when starting GiD in “GiD safe mode”, to reset
the preferences.
